Reducing Your Weight Without Dieting
If you’ve been having a hard time getting into your clothes with each passing day, then you may have to do something about it fast in order to prevent a potentially bigger problem. The thought of going on a diet is seldom appealing, but there are ways to lose weight without going on diet.
First off, you have to accept that losing weight won’t be easy, but take note that even the slightest changes can make a big impact especially if you only need to lose a few pounds. You don’t have to count calories and plan meals, but you will have to watch what you eat.
Eating your breakfast is acknowledged as one of the three most important factors which contribute to weight reduction. A healthy breakfast wakes your body up and gets it working for the day ahead, and if you eat a healthy breakfast, some of the energy you burn up will be fat as well.
Experts concur that eating five or six light meals a day is much more effective for weight-loss than the conventional three square meals that we were brought up with. At each meal you should eat only enough to fill you for two or three hours until your next, small meal as this helps you keep your metabolism working all day, instead of slowing down because there’s no food to digest for another five hours.
Stay away from junk food as they are packed with empty calories that can only do your slimming prospects more harm than good. Pack healthy snacks to eat at work, and make your own food at home (fruit, vegetables and whole grains are ideal). Other metabolism-boosting foods that are good to eat throughout the day are spinach, broccoli, apples, citrus fruit, blueberries, nuts, brown rice, barley and oats.
Drink lots of water rather than going for sodas and cream-laden hot drinks. It cleanses your system from the inside out, and helps keep organs like the kidneys in tip-top condition. Water can also help you fill up before a meal, particularly useful if you’re going out to dinner. It is recommended that you increase the amount of exercise that you are doing although it is important to note that if you currently have a sedentary lifestyle that you should start slowly and be careful not to overdo it. Exercises that are spread throughout the day and done in smaller portions are more likely to contribute to a more successful weight reduction program. A small amount of exercise, say a 10 minute walk, done a few times a day is more likely to lead to successful weight loss. It doesn’t have to be some fancy all-in-one gym equipment which costs hundreds of dollars. Oftentimes, an ordinary exercise ball or band will suffice. Because you are exercising at home, you can exercise when it suit you without having to factor in time spent in traffic, changing etc.
Whether you have two pounds or twenty to lose, small changes will make a difference. Just remember that your ultimate objective is to lead a healthier lifestyle that would allow you to maintain a weight that is proportionate with your age, height and gender.
